Summer workshops

The Center for Innovative Teaching (which I direct) offers summer workshops for educators. These take place at The Urban School of San Francisco, and at Flint Hill School in Oakton VA, 15 miles from Washington, DC.

CIT has offered dozens of workshops in all disciplines since 2006. The workshops are hands-on and designed to share classroom-tested activities and approaches that will enhance the academic program at any middle or high school. The following are most relevant to math teachers.

San Francisco, CA

June 23-24: Become an Expert Interactive Whiteboard User: Practical Teaching Techniques (Meghan Mahoney)

June 27-28: No Limits in Upper Level Math (Henri Picciotto) Hands-on and visual approaches to topics in Algebra 2 and Precalculus.

June 29-30: Meaningful Group Work in the Math Classroom: Applying the Complex Instruction Framework (Laura Evans)

Washington, DC (Northern Virginia)

August 15-17: Hands-On Geometry (Henri Picciotto) Labs and activities, plus an authentic approach to proof.

Additional workshops

Independent curriculum, integrating technology, instructional leadership, digital video interviews, science, language, and Chinese.
